Hi! My name is Anna Beasley and I’m a junior at the University of Georgia. My major is Early Childhood Education. I’m excited to say that student teaching is just now beginning and I’ve already learned so much! My constantly-changing plan for now is to teach Kindergarten or 1st grade, when the little ones are still young, but you never know where life takes you! I’m so excited to continue learning about all aspects of education and various strategies to effectively teach all learners.
I was born and raised in Lawrenceville, Georgia, but Athens is definitely my home. I’m in love with the atmosphere, people, and food (of course) of this city. I love Georgia football games and the campus as a whole. Some of my favorite things in the whole world are coffee, running, and exploring new places. I’m ready to soak up these next two years at UGA and make them unforgettable. One of the biggest factors of who I am today has to do with my wonderful family of 5. I have a younger brother, who is about to start thinking about college (go dawgs!), and an older sister, who is a UGA alumni.
I’ve learned quite a bit about technology in the classroom/STEM from other education classes, but none on the topic of assistive technology. Challenges that a student has can be supported and aided with different levels of technology. It is the role of a teacher to discover such devices and support each student’s learning need. I’m eager to absorb as much information I can from all these technology classes and apply this knowledge into the making of my future classroom. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.” -Nelson Mandela
